This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your VIVOSUN 4 Inch Air Carbon Filter. Designed for effective odor control and air purification, this filter is ideal for use in indoor grow tents, hydroponics rooms, kitchens, and basements. The VIVOSUN Air Carbon Filter is designed for easy integration into various ventilation systems. Follow these steps for proper setup:

1. Attach Pre-filter: Carefully slide the included pre-filter cloth over the main carbon filter unit. Ensure it covers the entire mesh surface evenly. This pre-filter helps capture larger particles and extends the life of the carbon.
2. Connect to Inline Fan: Securely connect one end of the carbon filter to your 4-inch inline duct fan using appropriate ducting and clamps (not included). Ensure a tight seal to prevent air leaks.

   • Inside Grow Tent: The filter and fan can be placed inside the grow tent, typically suspended from the tent's support bars. Use the provided hanging belts for secure mounting.

The VIVOSUN Air Carbon Filter operates by drawing air through its activated carbon bed, which absorbs odors and impurities. It can be configured for both intake and exhaust functions:

• Exhaust Filter (Odor Removal): When used as an exhaust filter, the fan pulls air from the grow space through the carbon filter and expels purified air outside. This is the most common application for odor control. Ensure the pre-filter is on the outside of the carbon filter for this configuration.
• Intake Filter (Air Purification): When used as an intake filter, the fan pulls fresh air from outside through the carbon filter into the grow space, purifying incoming air. For this setup, the pre-filter should be placed inside the carbon filter.

Ensure your inline fan is properly connected and powered on to initiate airflow through the carbon filter. The filter works continuously as long as air passes through it.

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your VIVOSUN Air Carbon Filter.

1. Pre-filter Cleaning/Replacement: The detachable pre-filter cloth should be regularly inspected for dust and debris buildup. It is recommended to clean or replace the pre-filter every 6 months, or more frequently depending on the air quality of your environment. The pre-filter can be gently hand-washed with mild soap and water, then air-dried completely before reinstallation.
2. Carbon Canister Reversal: To prolong the filter's service life and ensure exhaustive smell filtration, the heavy-duty iron flange and base can be exchanged to reverse the charcoal canister. This allows for even usage of the activated carbon.
3. Carbon Replacement: The activated carbon inside the filter has a finite lifespan. When you notice a decrease in odor control effectiveness, it indicates that the carbon is saturated and needs replacement. The frequency of carbon replacement depends on usage and air contaminants.
