Before connecting, ensure both vehicles are turned off and in Park/Neutral with the parking brake engaged. Identify the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals on both batteries. The Energizer jumper cables feature color-coded clamps for easy identification: red for positive and black for negative.

  1. Connect one red (positive) clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the dead battery.
  2. Connect the other red (positive) clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the good battery.
  3. Connect one black (negative) clamp to the negative (-) terminal of the good battery.
  4. Connect the other black (negative) clamp to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the engine block or chassis of the vehicle with the dead battery, away from the battery and moving parts. This provides a ground connection.

Operating Instructions (Jump Starting)

  1. Once all connections are secure, start the engine of the vehicle with the good battery. Let it run for 1-2 minutes to charge the dead battery.
  2. Attempt to start the vehicle with the dead battery. If it doesn't start immediately, wait a few more minutes and try again.
  3. Once the dead vehicle starts, disconnect the cables in the reverse order of connection:
    • Disconnect the black (negative) clamp from the engine block/chassis of the now-started vehicle.
    • Disconnect the black (negative) clamp from the negative (-) terminal of the good battery.

  4. Allow the newly started vehicle to run for at least 20-30 minutes to recharge its battery.
