Segurtasun Informazioa
OHARRA:
- Avalanche transceivers are essential safety tools but do not guarantee survival in an avalanche. Proper training, experience, and judgment are crucial for backcountry travel.
- Always practice regularly with your transceiver and other rescue equipment.
- Ensure all group members are equipped with transceivers, shovels, and probes, and know how to use them.
- Check battery levels before each use.
Konfigurazioa
Bateriaren instalazioa
The Tracker 3 requires three AAA alkaline batteries. To install or replace batteries:

Arnesa jantzita
The Tracker 3 comes with a harness designed for secure and accessible carrying. Proper wearing of the harness ensures the beacon is protected and readily available for use.

This image shows the BCA Tracker 3 avalanche transceiver securely placed in its black harness, worn on the chest area of a person. The harness features the BCA logo and "TRACKER3" text, with adjustable straps and a buckle for a snug fit. A coiled lanyard connects the beacon to the harness, preventing loss.
- Adjust the harness straps to fit snugly over your base layers and under your outer jacket.
- Place the transceiver into the harness pouch with the display facing outwards.
- Ensure the security lanyard is attached to the transceiver and the harness.
- The beacon should be easily accessible with either hand.
Funtzionamendu-argibideak
The Tracker 3 features a simple rotary switch for mode selection: OFF, TRANSMIT (TR), and SEARCH (SE).

This image displays a close-up side view of the BCA Tracker 3 avalanche transceiver. The prominent feature is a black rotary switch with clear markings for "OFF", "TR" (Transmit), and "SE" (Search) modes. A yellow stripe runs along the side of the device, indicating its robust design.
Transmit Mode (TR)
In transmit mode, the Tracker 3 emits a standardized 457 kHz signal, allowing other transceivers to locate it. This is the default mode for all backcountry users.
- Biratu etengailua TR posizioa.
- The display will show a confirmation of transmit mode and battery life.
- Always ensure your beacon is in transmit mode before entering avalanche terrain.
Search Mode (SE)
Search mode is used to locate a buried transceiver. The Tracker 3 provides directional indicators and distance readings to guide the rescuer.
- In a rescue situation, turn the rotary switch to the SE posizioa.
- Follow the on-screen directional arrows and decreasing distance numbers to pinpoint the victim.
- The maximum search range is 55 meters, with an effective search strip width of 50 meters.
Signal Suppression (SS) Mode
Signal Suppression mode is designed for multiple-victim scenarios. It allows the rescuer to temporarily ignore the signal of a located victim to focus on finding additional burials.
- Once a victim's signal is pinpointed, activate SS mode (refer to the device's specific button/gesture for activation, typically a dedicated button or a combination press).
- The Tracker 3 will suppress the signal of the closest beacon, allowing you to search for the next strongest signal.
- Remember to mark the location of the suppressed signal for later recovery.
Big Picture (BP) Mode
Big Picture mode provides an overview of all detected signals within range, helping to assess the number and approximate locations of multiple burials.
- Activate BP mode (refer to the device's specific button/gesture for activation).
- The display will show multiple arrows or indicators, representing different transmitting beacons.
- Use this information to prioritize your search strategy in complex scenarios.
Auto Revert-to-Transmit Mode
For added safety, the Tracker 3 features a motion-sensing auto revert-to-transmit mode. If the beacon is in search mode and no motion is detected for a set period (e.g., due to a secondary avalanche), it will automatically switch back to transmit mode.
- This feature is designed to protect the rescuer in case they become buried during a search.
- Familiarize yourself with the specific timing and indicators for this feature in the full user manual.
Mantentzea
- Bateria zaintzea: Remove batteries during long periods of storage to prevent leakage. Always use fresh, high-quality alkaline batteries.

Arazoak konpontzea
- No Power/Display Not Working:
- Bateriaren instalazioa egiaztatu eta polaritate zuzena ziurtatu.
- Ordeztu bateria berriekin.
- Ensure the rotary switch is fully engaged in the TR or SE position.
- Inaccurate Distance/Direction Readings:
- Ensure no other electronic devices (mobile phones, cameras, GPS units) are too close to the beacon, as they can cause interference. Maintain a minimum distance of 20 cm (8 inches) in transmit mode and 50 cm (20 inches) in search mode.
- Perform a group check before entering the backcountry to verify all transceivers are functioning correctly.
- Beacon Not Switching Modes:
- Ensure the rotary switch is clean and free of debris.
- If the issue persists, contact BCA customer support.
