Before initial use, fully charge the battery. A full charge typically takes 3-4 hours.

1. Plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet and connect it to the charging base.
2. Place the radio (with battery installed) into the charging base.
3. The LED indicator on the charger will turn red while charging and green when fully charged.

5. Oinarrizko Funtzionamendua

5.1 Piztea/Itzaltzea eta Bolumena Doitzea

1. To turn the radio ON, rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise. You will hear a voice prompt indicating the current channel.
2. To turn the radio OFF, rotate the Power/Volume knob counter-clockwise until it clicks.
3. To adjust the volume, rotate the Power/Volume knob. Clockwise increases volume, counter-clockwise decreases it.

6.1 VOX (Voice Operated Transmission)

VOX allows you to transmit without pressing the PTT button. The radio will automatically transmit when it detects your voice. This feature can be enabled or disabled via programming software (not included).

6.2 CTCSS/CDCSS (Tone Squelch)

CTCSS (Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System) and CDCSS (Continuous Digital Coded Squelch System) are sub-audible tones that allow multiple groups to share the same channel without hearing each other's conversations. Your BF-888S supports 50 CTCSS and 105 CDCSS tones. These are typically set via programming software.

6.3 Time-out Timer (TOT)

The TOT feature limits the amount of time the radio can continuously transmit. This prevents accidental prolonged transmissions and saves battery life. The duration is programmable.

When the battery level is low, the radio will emit an audible alert, indicating that it needs to be recharged.
