Introduction to Libby
Libby is a free application developed by OverDrive that allows you to borrow ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines from your local public library. All you need is a valid library card. Libby simplifies the process of accessing digital content, making it easy to read or listen on your preferred device.
Setup: Getting Started with Libby
Download the Libby App
The Libby app is available for various devices. Download it from your device's app store:

Operating: Using the Libby App
Browsing and Searching
The main screen displays your library's collection. You can:
- Arakatu: Explore curated lists, subjects, and new arrivals.
- Bilatu: Use the search bar to find specific titles, authors, or series.
- Iragazkia: Apply filters to narrow down results by format (ebook, audiobook), availability, audience, and more.
Borrowing Titles
When you find a title you want, tap on its cover. If available, tap "Borrow" to check it out. If the title is currently checked out, you can place a hold. You will be notified when your hold becomes available.
Reading and Listening
Once borrowed, titles appear on your "Shelf".
- Ebooks: Tap "Open In Libby" to read directly in the app, or "Read With Kindle" to send it to your Kindle device or Kindle app.
- Audioliburuak: Tap "Open In Libby" to listen directly in the app. You can adjust playback speed, set sleep timers, and skip forward/backward.
Managing Loans and Holds
Your "Shelf" also allows you to manage your borrowed titles and holds:
- Berritu: If no one is waiting, you may be able to renew a title before it expires.
- Return Early: You can return titles early to free up your borrowing limit.
- Manage Holds: View your position in the hold queue, suspend a hold, or cancel a hold.
Syncing Across Devices
Libby automatically syncs your reading progress across devices when you use the same library card. This allows you to pick up where you left off, whether on your phone, tablet, or another device.
