If using the mechanical timer, plug it into a grounded wall outlet. Push down the segments on the timer dial corresponding to the desired ON times and leave segments up for OFF times. Rotate the dial clockwise to align the current time with the pointer. Plug the ballast's power cord into the timer's outlet.
