5.1.1. Fiber Preparation

  1. Strip the Fiber: Use a fiber stripper to remove the protective coating from the fiber, exposing the bare fiber.
  2. Clean the Fiber: Clean the bare fiber with a lint-free wipe soaked in 99% isopropyl alcohol.
  3. Cleave the Fiber: Use a high-precision fiber cleaver to achieve a clean, perpendicular fiber end-face. The cleave length should be appropriate for the splicer's fiber holders.

5.1.2. Placing Fiber in Splicer

The FX39 supports a 3-in-1 fiber holder design.

  1. Open the splicer's wind cover and fiber clamps.
  2. Carefully place the prepared fibers into the V-grooves of the fiber holders. Ensure the fiber end-faces are positioned correctly near the electrodes.
  3. Itxi zuntza clamps and then the wind cover.

5.1.3. Splicing Process

  1. The splicer will automatically begin the alignment process. The 6 motors will precisely align the fiber cores.
  2. Once aligned, the splicer will initiate the fusion arc. The splicing process takes approximately 6 seconds.
  3. After splicing, the estimated splice loss will be displayed on the screen.
  4. Open the wind cover and carefully remove the spliced fiber.

5.1.4. Heat Shrink Protection

  1. Slide a heat shrink sleeve over the splice point.
  2. Place the fiber with the sleeve into the heating oven.
  3. Close the oven lid. The heating process takes approximately 16 seconds.
  4. Once complete, carefully remove the protected splice and allow it to cool on the integrated cooling tray.
